employee

I met a good friend of mine for lunch the other day. She was really excited when she got to the restaurant. Apparently, her boss had asked her to take an employee satisfaction survey. She felt that this indicated a true appreciation of the employees in her company and it really made her feel positive about her job.

The employee survey that she took wasn’t anything extensive. It was basically just a questionnaire getting some information from her about what she thought the working conditions were like, what her favorite and least favorite things about the business were and what could be done to make working for the company a better experience.

Even though there wasn’t a lot involved in the survey itself, the fact that her opinion was even sought out really made an impact on my friend. In this time when so many people are overworking themselves just to make sure that they still have a job, it’s really meaningful to be asked by your boss what could be done for you.

I have never seen my friend so happy to leave lunch and return to the office! It really got me thinking, as a business owner, about the importance of making sure that employees know that they are appreciated even when times are tough.
