If you have ever had any reason to do research into commercial paper shredders then you probably have read that there are basically two kinds of paper shredders. While it’s true that there are two common types of paper shredders, there are actually a lot more options out there than what you normally hear about.
Here is a look at eight different types of paper shredders that you might buy:
1. Strip-cut paper shredders.
2. Cross-cut paper shredders.
3. Particle-cut paper shredders.
4. Pierce-and-tear paper shredders.
5. Granulators
6. Hammermills.
7. Grinders.
8. Paper shredder trucks.
For the most part the difference between each of these shredders is in the method of cutting used and the size and shape of the paper once cut. Strip-cut and cross-cut are the two most common types that you will come across. Granulators, hammermills and grinders all rely on methods of cutting that make the pieces of paper so small that they will pass through mesh or screen. Shredder trucks are industrial trucks with paper shredders built in to them.
Bear in mind that this doesn’t include a look at the brand of paper shredders (such as dahle paper shredders) or the security level of paper shredders (such as NSA shredders).
